Which radio-controlled vehicle rules the pavements?

Radio-controlled cars have been a bit of a theme on The Gadget Show of late, what with us trying to break all sorts of R/C Guinness world records . But those were with souped-up buggies that are faster than our FIAT Puntos. We wanted to show our Focus Group a trio of altogether more accessible radio-controlled vehicles.

First up Jon tempts and tantalizes the automotive students from Aston University with the R/C VW Samba Van. Hoping to appeal to the Uni students’ hippy side, he picks an R/C vehicle with a classic 60’s design, but with a modern twist – a hidden speaker. And if that doesn’t get you going, it also has workable headlights. Oh yes!

Next up Jason brings a radio-controlled amphibious tank to the R/C pond. With one press of the button it transforms from sea-faring ‘boat’ to a land-lubbing tank. But best of all it fires pellets. So if the VW Samba Van starts flashing its lights at you, just take them out with a well-aimed shot!

Finally I bring the toughest R/C vehicle of the lot – the JLX Overdrive R/C Stunt Buggy . It’s got big green inflatable tyres, a durable, rugged design that helps it flip and jump, and it has a top speed of 24mph. But which will be the Focus Group’s number one? Watch the vid to find out…
