Pimping rides with clever car gadgets

Here on The Gadget Show we’re not interested in silly nitrous-boosty-turbo-thingies that turn your ride into a rocket ship, but rather in all the intelligent tech treats you can add to your motor to make it smarter, safer and more entertaining.

Suzi, Jason and Jon and took a roadtrip (round the corner), to showcase a trio of clever car gadgets to the Birmingham University race team, and find out which they reckon is the Lewis Hamilton of high-tech hop-ups.

First up, Jason toys with a new twist on the traditional roof rack, in the form of an inflatable option dubbed the HandiRack.

Next on the grid is Jon with the Tyresure Type Pressure Monitoring System, a smart piece of kit that constantly and automatically measures the pressure in each tyre, relaying info from sensors on the the air valves back to a display perched neatly on the dashboard.

Bringing up the rear, Suzi shows off the Binatone T430 satnav with camera system – it’s a regular satnav that comes with a camera that clings to the rear bumper of your car, turning the satnav screen into a digital rear view camera for when you’re reversing.
