Three ovens get put to the test by one gadget guru and one celebrity chef

Can you get a perfect piece of roast beef without doing any preparatory work at all from an oven? That’s the claim at least the latest crop of intelligent ovens are putting forward, claiming that you don’t even need to pre-heat the ovens to get going!

I’ve enlisted the help of top celebrity chef Simon Rimmer to test out these claims on three of the techiest ovens I could find, starting with the Electrolux Inspiro – which uses a central navigation wheel to select auto cooking and the dish you want to cook. Just input the weight and whack in your meat!

Next up the Miele H5681B, with a touch-sensitive menu that offers you a vast array of menus, including settings to choose how well done you want your meet and how brown it gets. It also sucks up water that can be dispersed as steam during the cooking process as and when required!

Finally we tested the De Dietrich DOP895B which sports a snazzy tilting touch-sensitive control panel with pictures of what you want to cook. Just hit the beef button, whack it in and wait. Couldn’t be simpler.

But which oven was more Gordon Ramsay than Gordon Bennett? Find out in the video above!
