It's the Landy line
What do you get when you cross a Land Rover with a mobile phone? Only one of the toughest, most rugged handsets known to man. Well, the Land Rover mobile from Sonim claims to be the toughest in the world! Naturally we sent Jon out to test its Steven Seagal-like claims…
The Sonim XP3 Quest costs £239.99 has a fairly basic two-megapixel camera and uses the phone’s bright LED torch as a flash (yes, it has a torch). It also has a basic music player, FM radio, email application and GPPS with a mapping application with turn-by-turn directions.
But you don’t want to hear about the features, you want to know how tough it is. Well it exudes the sort of toughness Hugh Jackman wishes he had. It has big chunky buttons, and keys that have been tested for half a million presses no less.
Drop it onto concrete from two metres and it still works. Dip it in that gadget Kryptonite, water, for up to one metre for half an hour and it won’t die! It can even survive temperatures of up to -20 degrees centigrade – a bit like that thing moving around at the back of our freezing!
But don’t take my word for it, watch Jon get hands-on with the Land Rover phone in the video above!
