Home security gadgets? Safe!
The phrase “safe as houses” may have applied at one time or another, but more recently it’s been replaced with the likes of “Broken Britain”. With crime on the rise, Suzi’s been looking at some top tech to keep your prized homely possessions safe…
From the X10 Rex10 Barking Dog Alarm system (which is an alarm that uses infrared sensors to detect movement then wirelessly activates a soundbox that recreates a guard dog barking) to the Linksys Wireless-G web camera (a webcam that doesn’t have to link to the computer as long as you have Wi-Fi. You can then log on and receive live video from anywhere with an internet connection. I’ll even email you if there’s some motion in your room!), these bits of safety tech are truly awesome.
Aside from barking dogs and wireless webcams, I also get to grips with “invisible” tagging liquid, smoke machines and crazy wireless intercom systems that ring through to your mobile!
So which home security gadget is number one? Watch the video above to find out!

Some nice gadgets but not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for affordable Wired/wireless IP Cameras with PTZ, night vision, good clear image, and auto focus. Also with ability to send images via e-mail/FTP when activated by motion dection. Motion detection also has to be as good at night as it is during the day. Maybe have two settings, one for night and one for day and which switch automatically depending on available light conditions. Maybe face detection as well. Well if you don't ask!!!!! These should all be the norm on any IP Camera.

I've also been looking for an up-to-date home security / surveillance digital camera system. I've found the following website to be quite useful: http://home-security-systems-review.toptenreviews.com/lorex-review.html But the best - the Lorex H.264 doesn't seem to be available in the UK. I wonder whether the Gadget Show would be interested in doing an updated piece on Home Security to review the latest gadge out there....?
