Have your say: Courier vs iPad
Would you opt for Microsoft's rumoured new tablet?
You might have seen the new shots of the Microsoft Courier today – the computing giant’s answer to the Apple iPad. We have to say, if the product can deliver the promise of the leaked shots then we should have a very interesting fight on our hands this year.
The Courier is rumoured to be an ultra-slim, folding-screen “digital journal”, controlled by a stylus-like pen. It’s also got eBook smarts and weighs in at just under a pound. Both the Courier and the iPad will be able to handle movies, games, emails – in fact, most of your digital needs on the go.
It certainly looks as if this year is going to be the year of the tablet – but which camp gets your vote? Are you team Courier or is your money on iPad all the way? Let us know int he comments section below…

Got to be the iPad. Until we get hand-on with both of them you can only guess, but Apple have a history of producing beautifully designed easy to use tech with a perfect marriage of software and hardware, while Microsoft ... don't. Maybe Mr Softy will surprise us, but I won't hold my breath ;-)

I do like the iPad more, but the courier has been 'around' longer.

I don't see how the Courier has been around longer. Sure there was a leaked demo video of the Courier before the announcement of the iPad but Microsoft have a history of leaking or announcing things ages before they go on sale (eg Windows Phone 7 Series Phone Series OS 7 Windows Phone thing) - whereas Apple only announce when they have finalised the product just before it ships. The latest news on the Courier makes it look quite different (and not nearly as cool) as the leaked video - which is one problem with leaking things so early.

The Courier appears to be the much more interesting item and appears to be a step forward from the current Tablet machines. To be fair to the Ipad, it's just a large ITouch, nothing more and nothing less. The first Tablet i'd ever consider personally buying though would be a Tablet at around the £500 mark, OLED screen, with a version of Windows 7 / OSX on it rather than a seriously cutdown, restrictive OS like the IPad has.

I recon that if the Courier has flash then it will be better then the ipad.

There clearly appears to be some overlap in what the two devices can do but Microsoft appear to be pitching the Courier as more of a digital notebook. As a designer that sounds like a great tool, but maybe of limited appeal to the wider audience. The video mock-up looks fantastic, I just hope the real device can deliver what seems to be very processor intense actions without any real-time delay.

I personally prefer the iPad - BUT.... I have a HUGE attraction to Microsoft and Windows. I would never pick a Mac for the money. I cant wait for the courier to come out. And microsoft isnt silly, woolley999.
