Have your say - can Android tablets beat the iPad?
Is a tablet war about to kick off in earnest?
It seems we’re about to be subjected to a deluge of Android-packing tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is official, the LG Optimus Pad is on its way and so are Google-backed slates from Toshiba and Motorola.
That means the Big G is going to be in prime position to tackle the iPad, using the same OS that has done such a good job of keeping the iPhone and iOS on its toes in the past twelve months.
The question is, what kind of damage can these devices inflict on the iPad? It’s already sold a colossal 3.27 million units in its first three months and that figure is set to rise. So will new software and Android’s ace approach convince people to choose a different tablet?
Let us know what YOU think. Is Apple done for in the tablet stakes? Or will this slew of new efforts only serve to confuse?

Yes, why because the android is not restricted by copy write and programmers hands are not tied. Android are also quick to patch where as apple are not. Apple are also much more expensive due to greed. Also not limited to apple technology when using in conjunction with something else..

For me Apple products will always be toys. They are always desirable, always beautiful, and I certainly wouldn't kick one out of bed for .... well I wouldn't kick one out of bed. The problem is they are also very elitist. Always expensive, always censored and controlled and everyone who owns an apple product has a permanent smug grin on their face as they look down their noses at mere windows users. I think it's also telling that most Apple evangelists will have a PC or standard mobile in their life as backup. If you really truly want a device that will do everything you need it to do; as a phone, business machine, game machine, social network device and eReader; I think you have to look elsewhere. Android offers an opportunity for people like me who just can't take the shiny shiny image of Apple products seriously and I think the Galaxy Tab looks like a great attempt at giving us what we want rather than what we are told by Apple to desire. I'm sure Apple will answer the new Tabs soon and that will be great for the market. I would also love them to prove me wrong by outing a desirable, flexible, product that covered all bases made maidens drop at my feet and cost me pocket money. I fear I wait in vain. That said; Samsung haven't confirmed a price yet but I tremble with excitement.

ipad and iphone fan boys are strangely oblivious to this massive deluge of Android phones and tablets coming in from all sides. Open source is the way of the future and Apple are scared, hence them rushing out a flawed iphone 4 to keep people interested.

This is a bit premature as Galaxy has not been truly user tested yet. Apple elitist? Sure, so what ? If you pay that much for your hardware, you better feel above the rest, otherwise you are just a rich schmuck ! Apple verses Windows will go on. Dont forget what saved Apple from financial oblivion is the possibility to run windows programs! But on an other hand, the sheer beauty of the designs made the rest of the world look at technology for the first time when Apple put colours on the computer cheeks! What I would like to see is a tablet I can put in my pocket, as I found the ipad too big, or too small, it just does not fit for what I want to do. I sold mine after a few days. As there were shortage then, Apple gave me full refund !

Of corse android is better, this lawsuite that apple has against the Galaxy tab 10.1 is a defence tactic: (Eliminate the greatest threat) People that only know ios and cant look past the end of their nose have probably never even seen an android tablet/ phone and need to open their eyes.

To be honest, android tablets are less exspensive than the ipad. The first gen of ipad is valued at £649 from the apple website and the ipad 2 costs £399. I personly think the ipad wil lose two android tabs
