Hands up who wants a PSP phone
So we've got the PSP Go, but will we also be getting a PSP phone?
So it appears the announcement of the PSP Go wasn’t enough to dispel those pesky PlayStation Phone rumours. Another fresh one has emerged, and it’s coming from no less than respected Japanese industry newspaper Nikkei Shimbun!
We’ve always taken rumours with a pinch of salt here on The Gadget Show, but this one just won’t seem to go away. According to the Nikkei business daily, Sony is planning a gaming/mobile hybrid in conjunction with Sony Ericsson. The partnership makes sense. On the one hand you have the creators of one of the world’s most successful and powerful handheld consoles. On the other you have a mobile phone company with few (if any) peers in its field. And according to Nikkei, a project team could be set up as soon as next month.
It makes sense for Sony to take the PSP into the mobile world. The iPhone is starting to prove that the two can co-exist, with more developers willing to create games for Apple’s wonder phone. If Sony and Sony Ericsson can put their collective genius together and come up with some sort of PlayStation phone, then we could be in for a real treat.
Obviously this is all still rumour-based, and it’s a rumour we’ve heard before. But with more respected industry newspapers like Nikkei (who don’t tend to just publish any old rumpour) starting to carry the story, it’s hard not to believe/hope there may be some truth in all these rumblings. But would you buy a PSP phone or are you happy with the iPhone? Have your say in the poll below…
