Google working on an iPad rival?
It’s only been in official existence for just over a week, but already it seems like new adversary Google may have its sights set on the Apple iPad.
The web is awash with rumours of a gPad – Google’s own take on the touchscreen tablet. The device has shown up in a concept video posted by a Google Chrome OS designer, which suggests that there might be some credence to the rumours.
The video shows the device running Google’s forthcoming Chrome operating system, though the hardware itself is clearly just a prototype for the OS.
The fact that Google has now already dipped its toe into hardware production with the Nexus One, and it has a capable long-term partner in the shape of HTC, it looks like this could be more than just idle web speculation. We look forward to an ensuing touchscreen war.

This can only be good for us! With the iPad, gPad, or even the O2Pad we, the user, can access the Internet while slouching in a comfy chair instead of having to rest a laptop (netbook or whatever) on a table. OKay it may not be the easiest to type on but if you need to do alot of typing you wouldn't use an iPad for work.

Why is no one mentioning the Notion Ink's Adam? It has everything the IPad has and more. It looks like it will make a much better tool for reading magazines and websites than the IPad - and it will have flash! Hopefuly it there will be something about it when it hits the Mobile World Congress next week. ...and no I'm nothing to do with the company just fascinated enough to be trawing the web for information on it!
