GlastoNav: augmented reality app to help you find the loo
The new GlastoNav app - augmented reality version for iPhone out now
Heading down to Worthy Farm next week for Glastonbury? Got an iPhone? Then you might want to hit the App Store sharpish and download GlastoNav. This new augmented reality app is designed to help you get around and find those all important bars and loos without using the official, and slightly awkward, paper map.
Once you fire GlastoNav up, you’ll be able to point your iPhone’s camera in any direction on site to get easy directions. It also includes a list of stage times for every band, as well as tent-finding feature in case you get a tad lost after a lengthy stay at the Somerset cider bus.
The app’s been produced by Orange, which you’ll already know is a sponsor of the world’s greatest festival. “GlastoNav is the best way to find your way around the Glastonbury festival site and make sure you and your mates don’t miss a thing,” said the company’s Andrew Pearcey.
There’s just one small snag: your iPhone’s battery is never going to last the five day distance and the queues for the recharging tent will be huge. Perhaps nab a solar charger now while you’ve got the chance. Or just take a basic blower and download the standard mobile version instead.
