Episode 18 - Monopoly Challenge
Monopoly Challenge
This week Ortis and Woodward race across London in their own high-octane, gadget-packed take on the classic game of Monopoly. Going head-to-head using the latest urban personal transport –from skates and scooters to state-of-the-art electric transport – and the latest ‘augmented reality’ navigation technology, it’s a race which takes them across the city via each of the railway stations on the Monopoly board. With each leg, the race picks up pace, with their urban transport getting faster and more powerful. But, it’s not all plain sailing – as if having to tackle the dreaded London traffic wasn’t bad enough, they’re also subject to random forfeits from the notorious ‘chance’ cards, which could give their opponent a head start – or even spell out an unexpected trip to jail. With thanks to all these guys who helped make it happen.

An outdated, hundred-year-old board game featured on The Gadget Show? For shame!!! What about challenges based on (or even better, reviews of) proper, modern board games?

That electric scooter in the Monopoly Challenge was neat, but as far as I can tell is completely illegal to use on any highway in the UK. Glad Ortis didn't get caught, the penalty for riding an unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed motor vehicle is pretty draconian............ It'd be good to see the law changed to allow these to be used on our roads, but I can't see that happening any time soon.

Unbeleivable that Jason didn't mention that Call Of Duty Black Ops plays entirely in 3D on a 3D television. Single player, zombies AND multiplayer, all in glorious 3D. Doesn't say it on the box or in the instructions, but try it with a PS3 and a 3D TV. Amazing.

If it's fully approved, registered etc, how come the scooter in the show didn't appear to have a number plate, proper lighting etc? I have an interest because I tried to help a chap who bought something very similar and was then stopped by the police for using it on the road. I spent a fair bit of time trying to get it through MSVA for him, so it could be registered, licensed and insured, as the seller didn't want to know.

Jeremy, although you may haven't noticed it the i-Scoot Maxx has a number plate, (free) tax disk, propper lights and is fully road legal not just in the UK but also in The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany (it's manufactured in Hamburg) Austria and more on the way, there were 3,000+ sold last year and they have been on the market over nine years. You need insurance and it is classed as a moped (50cc class). It's a lot of fun to ride.

How you would do a reverse license plate owner lookup? I wish to know if there's any type of way you can enter in a license plate number online and see the full name of the individual if it is associated with or maybe the address of that individual. Can anybody help me to solve this? It's an The state of illinois plate with S at the end of it. Please e-mail me if you can do a search or post if you know how to do a totally free one. Thanks so much.
