Canon Wonder Camera – the camera of the future?
Lenses? Pah, they’re old news. Shooting stills? Out with the dinosaurs. If Canon is to believed, its new Wonder Cam concept is the future of digital imaging. And it’s a pretty interesting idea – doing away with lenses and shooting continuous video.
Rather than swapping round fiddly lenses to get the shot of your dreams, one lens on the Wonder cam will take care of everything – from macro to 5000mm shots.
This one lens to rule them all comes with an all-touch interface, so there’s no buttons and dials to worry about in the future either. The Wonder Cam would also sport an ultra hi-res sensor and advanced image stabilisation.
Canon claim that shooting stills will also be a thing of the past, with the Wonder Cam’s video capture so good that you’ll just be able to pick off the best stills from video footage frames.
Whether or not some or all of these qualities will be nestled in the cameras of the future remains to be seen. But Canon’s concept is certainly an interesting one. What do you think? What would you like to see on the cam of the future? Let us know below…

Now this is an interesting concept. However I can't see it appealing to those of us who at least try to obtain the finest quality images. No one lens can do it all and the sensor would have to be a larger type to avoid noise reduction artifacts etc. However I find that most snap shooters that I know do not bother with prints these days. They view images on a computer or TV. This fact may just help Canon pull it off for the consumer market.
