Battle of the Gigabytes...
The Xbox 360 and PS3: who's got the biggest hard drive?
It looks like the capacity du jour for games machines is 250GB. No sooner does Microsoft out its plans for the limited edition 250GB Xbox 360 bundle and a shot gets leaked out for a similar 250GB PS3 Slim bundle. Coincidence you say?
The shot of the 250GB PS3 Slim suggests Sony is priming a bundle that includes the beefed up console and Uncharted 2. here’s also a suggestion that bundles including Assassin’s Creed II and Gran Turismo 5 will be available.
These PS3 bundles are slated to be unveiled at Tokyo Games Show, with a mooted relese date of early next month. Apparently they’ll cost a fairly reasonable £299 a bundle and we’ll be seeing them all in good old Blighty.
Whether all this is fact remains to be seen, but with the Xbox 360 boosting its hard drive, it was almost inevitable Sony would do the same with its baby. We just weren’t expecting it so soon.
With games consoles becoming more of a media hub for your all your content (videos, music, etc), having a whopping hard drive has never been so important. And it looks like Sony and Microsoft are catering for our needs.
But what would you get the 250GB 360 or PS3? Or would you hold out for a 1TB offering? Let us know…

if you have a ps3, the hdd size doesn't matter since you could just replace it with a new one. I personally own an 80GB ps3 which i have upgraded to a 500GB, and the hdds these day a pretty cheap.

I haven't upgraded my 360 yet - 120 quid for a 120GB drive is outrageous!! The peripherals for these machines are wayyy to pricey and bear no relation to the total cost of manufacture nor to relative market pricing. It's not that I can't afford to, I just refuse to be fleeced!
