Apple Tablet event – what to expect
What will Apple unveil on 27 Jan?
Well, the internet’s been a-buzz with rumours of an Apple Tablet, Mac Tablet, iTablet or iSlate, or whatever you want to call it for almost as long as we can remember, but it looks as if the fateful Apple D-Day may almost be upon us.
Selected members of the gadget cognoscenti have received invitations to a special event in the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco on 27 January, 9am PST (6pm GMT). The invite promises to show off Apple’s “latest creation.” So, what could it be? Is the multicoloured graffiti-style invitation any indication of things to come?
Here are some things we’d be tempted to lay some money on:
• A device that’s smaller than a netbook, bigger than an eReader, sporting an AMOLED screen and touch-sensitive controls.
• A front-facing camera makes perfect sense for the Apple Slate, especially if there is built-in 3G connectivity for video calling.
• iPhone apps – seems like a no-brainer to allow even more apps to be shifted from iTunes
• Music streaming services, eBook services and iTunes – again, seems like common sense to load this up with Apple goodies
What do you think? What would you like to see on the Apple Tablet? Let us know below…

Hopefully it will be an industry game changer in the mould of the original Mac, iPod and iPhone, rather than an underdeveloped and unappreciated sidenote like the AppleTV. My guess is that it is gonna ROCK!!

One thing guaranteed will be about 400mb of updates to download over the following week! 3G connectivity is interesting - we've seen it launched with Kindle away from the traditional contract with a mobile phone. How long before Skype for IPad removes the need for a mobile contract? I'd also put money on a £600 price point (no pun intended). Big unknowns will be storage capacity and battery life. To be Macbook like will need 160gb+ and 6hrs - Who wants to carry that about? And how hot will it get while you read all of War and Peace?

Surely the time is right for a voice entry option instead of keypad (whether real or virtual). Much progress has been made on noise reduction recently too so that's what I'd be looking for.

Well i feel confident in saying they probably wont leave out the accelerometer as that will make games (if available) on the Apple Gadget to kick start the decade of amazing tech or the (AGTKSTDOAT) ok its not very catchy but you know it will!!! ...anyway i will make games very cool! a decent opperating system couldnt go amiss.. one thing i am really hoping for is for it to be very thin!! that would be a big bonus no bigger than a average thick magazine. with oled tvs starting the thin trend i think we know that the future is very thin! i hope it isnt the same style as the iphone because it wont seem as amazing if its just been enlarged...... anyone agree or am i babling!!

I would like to see a device that is reasonably priced, rather than something extatically priced like the rumours have been suggesting about the iSlab or whatever it will be called. I would like to see something less than £400 rather than touching £1000.

Apple have played the clever game again, leaking rumors about a tablet years in advance. and then waiting for the compotition to come out with half arced attempts (take note Microsft/HP ). Now its time for Apple to steal the thunder again !!

What about if it is some kind of a large iPhone, I mean you could even make calls with it with GSM as well as Skype and the others; you know, like the stuff we see on movies. Whatever it will be, as always with the Apple eventsand Apple products, it will be a revolution.

What ever the product launch is (no doubting it will blow the rest of the market out of the water), isn't about time Apple put a decent camera and flash on the iphone. Its the only thing stopping me having one.
