Acer Iconia Dual Screen Laptop: Your Comments!
Earlier this week our very own Jon Bentley took a look at the new Acer Iconia Dual Screen laptop. With a display where we normally expect to find a keyboard, it’s a whole new type of gadget. We wondered what your thoughts on the Iconia Dual Screen laptop were, however, and you haven’t disappointed, with over 70 comments. Read on to find out more.
The idea of a dual-screen laptop is not a new one, but Acer is the latest to try with the Iconia. With a second display in place of a keyboard, it promises to make multi-tasking easier, but does it come at the price of usability?

Karl Orsborn is concerned about battery life on the Acer, sensibly pointing out “laptop batteries barely handle one screen, let alone two”. If nothing else, however, Simon Burrows thinks it looks good, claiming “that looks cool but in reality I don’t think it will catch on”.
Reader John Taylor thinks the lack of tactile feedback on an onscreen keyboard will cause problems, stating “My last two phones have had slide out keyboards. Don’t always use them but its a whole lot faster to type when I pop it out. The reason being able to feel the buttons. Why else do you think most keyboards have bits on the middle row?”
Several readers liken the Iconia Dual Screen to a Nintendo DS, and we can see why. Chris Gibson likes the idea, pointing out that “two screens are better than one, it’s pretty obvious”. Stephen Cross is another worried about battery life, however, stating: “Seen it. Used it. Battery life, people!”
It seems like the Acer Iconia Dual Screen laptop is a divisive gadget then! We’d love to hear more of your thoughts, however, so please check out the video, leave a comment below, and check out the debate on our Gadget Show Facebook page.
