Need to Know - Mercedes E Class Cabriolet

Consumer | about 1 year ago

According to Mercedes their new E-Class Cabriolet represents the future of open top motoring. A number of innovative design features are supposed to reduce wind buffeting to a minimum when the roof is down. Vicki puts these claims to the test and decides whether this is now the drop top to buy.

Vicki's report on the Mercedes E Class Cabriolet was seriously flawed. Amongst other things, when I decided to buy this car, I was attracted by teh boot space. What Vicki missed was that if you have teh roof up, the compartment that normally houses the roof in the boot, can be pushed up and out of the way and therefore the boot is the same size as the Coupe. If she really needed to store all teh crews equipment in teh boot, if it fits in the Coupe model, then it would fit in the Cabriolet too - It's true, that the roof would need to be up though, however, this should have been mentioned in her report. I could not even get my golf clubs in the A5 and have photos to prove it! Thank you, Lambros PS The Old Volvo C70 Convertible rag top is still my favourite for comfort!

I have to totally agree with the other comment that has been left. I got an E500 petrol version of this car in June 2010 and the report did, indeed, fail to mention that with the roof up, the housing for the roof can just be pushed up and totally folded upwards and out of the way. The boot then has the same space as the Coupe. The boot is a great size when the roof is up and is still pretty impressive with the roof down. If that report has put anyone from buying the car, trust me, don't allow it to. The E Class Cabriolet is one heck of a nice car and is extremely refined. There aren't many on the roads either which is a plus. In the report, the car reviewed was a 350 petrol or diesel (not too sure, although most likely the diesel). I got the V8 petrol in black and the exhaust's sound great!!!! I can't get enough of putting it in the sport mode and putting my foot to the floor when I accelerate. It's pretty thirsty however, so I would suggest going for the E350 CDI (V6 diesel) as it's still fast and return good fuel consumption figures. Regards
